Porto Santo is the host of the European Tour’s Madeira Islands Open. The course, which was designed by five-time major champion Seve Ballesteros, stretches all the way across the island from dune-rolling beach to dramatic basalt cliffs. Ballesteros designed Porto Santo to blend in with the natural landscape.
The course features two distinct zones – a southern loop in the American tradition, dotted with lakes and demanding a long, precise game; and a northern nine played along spectacular cliff tops.
There is also a nine-hole ‘pitch-and-putt’ course of par-three holes (ideal for training precision shots), and a driving range. Facilities at the clubhouse include a sauna, Jacuzzi, and pro shop.
