It is claimed that golf was played in the village of Cruden Bay as early as 1791. The original course, on the present site, was commissioned by the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNSR) following the expansion of the railways at the end of the 19th century, designed by Old Tom Morris of St Andrews, and opened in 1899.
An endearing links that is always a challenge and a pleasure to play. Yardage book is advised as there are a couple of blind shots.
Cruden Bay is located 23 miles (37 kilometres) north of Aberdeen, on the coast. From Aberdeen, follow the A90 north (Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road) and turn right on to the A975 (Newburgh/Cruden Bay road). On entering Cruden Bay the Golf Club is on the right. |
