Guest Rooms

Tasteful in every detail, guestrooms feature handcrafted Mexican accents throughout. Each guestroom faces towards the sea, offering expansive views of the Pacific Ocean or Sea of Cortez.

Perched above the beach, accommodation is presented in single-storey and three-storey buildings, or “casas”, at the edge of the resort grounds along the peninsula’s coastal fringe. All 172 guestrooms offer a patio or balcony, allowing optimum privacy and unobstructed ocean front or beach front views; and 24-hour butler service.

Ocean Front Deluxe Room (600 ft² / 56m²): Nestled above a picturesque shoreline, deluxe rooms offer spacious sitting areas looking out on the Bay of San Jose and the mountains beyond, with shaded terraces and day beds. The bathroom is appointed with a large marble double-headed shower and twin vanity sinks. Available with one King-size or two Queen-size beds.

Casita Junior Suite (600 ft² / 56m²) Located on a single-level, beach front junior suites reflect a casual elegance, with scenic views of the beach from the sitting and bedroom areas and deluxe terrace.

Terrace Junior Suite (600 ft² / 56m²) Looking out over one of the few swimmable beaches in all of Los Cabos, junior suites feature spacious terraces. Panoramic views of the sea from the sitting/bedroom areas and even from the bathroom, which offers a dramatic sculptured bath and rain shower.

Patio Junior Suite (750 ft² / 70m²) Decorated with handcrafted Mexican elegance and designed for outdoor entertainment on beach front patios. Magnificent views of the Sea of Cortez from every area of the suite, including the bathroom, which features a sculptured bath with rain shower.

One Bedroom Luxury Suite (1400 ft² / 130m²) Each Luxury suite has been meticulously designed with sophisticated amenities and handcrafted details created by Mexico’s finest artisans. Private yet open to the beauty of Baja, every part of the suite allows for scenic views, from the entertainment parlour and bedroom with walk-in closets, to the spacious terrace, to the large bathroom with sculptured bath and rain shower.

Casita One Bedroom Suite (1000 ft² / 93m²) These secluded one-level luxury suites in Casa Playa and Casa Sirena provide exceptional privacy. Situated adjacent to the beach, they offer spectacular views from every room and from the beautifully appointed terrace, complete with day bed. The entertainment room provides a full wet bar with a separate dining area. The bedroom is appointed with elegant comforts, and the ultra-modern bathroom is adorned in marble with a rain shower and twin vanity sinks.

With three different restaurants, two bars, and a host of en-suite and private dining options, guests are assured a variety of culinary discoveries to suit every mood at the One and Only Palmilla.

C Restaurant is the The One and Only Palmilla signature restaurant, by celebrated chef Charlie Trotter. C emphasises the freshest local ingredients. Experience C Restaurant’s famous grand tasting menu paired with fine wines. Serving breakfast and dinner year round.

Agua The flavours of Los Cabos are celebrated in Agua, a palapa-styled venue overlooking the Sea of Cortez that showcases an inspired “Mexiterranean” menu and indoor/outdoor ambience to suit different moods. Breeze The perfect setting for lunch or a light afternoon snack, this alfresco venue overlooks Vista Pool and the Pacific Ocean beyond. The menu offers a continental blend of favourites and tropical libations.

C Bar In the elegant sitting room atmosphere of C Bar, guests can enjoy afternoon refreshments and cocktails with live entertainment before or after dinner.

Agua Bar Tropical breezes off the Sea of Cortez blend with fresh air from the Pacific in this palapa-roofed bar that emanates the hip and contemporary style of modern Mexico. Ideal for light breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks by day; Humming with chill-out music under a dramatic sky by night.

Swimming Pools The One and Only resort's original infinity-edge pool is located adjacent to reception overlooking the beach. Vista Pool is for adults only and features a swim up bar. A second infinity-edge (Agua) pool overlooks the sea near Agua Bar. Guests are also treated to one of the region's few swimmable beaches.

The One and Only Palmilla offers tennis on two floodlit courts, walking/jogging trails, horse-riding, and more. The Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez are explored on the luxurious One and Only Palmilla 50-foot Sunseeker yacht.

History and culture

The Palmilla resort itself was built in 1956 as a 15-room luxury hideaway by Don Abelardo Rodriguez, son of the President of Mexico. Accessible only by yacht or private plane, its earliest guests included Hollywood celebrities like John Wayne, Bing Crosby, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower, all attracted by the privacy of the resort as well as the region’s deep-sea fishing.

Following the construction of the Transpeninsular Highway in 1970, the resort became increasingly popular and grew to 50 rooms by 1984. In 1991, the Palmilla Golf Club opened, and in 1996, the property was again expanded to 115 rooms. The glamorous flavour and ambience of the original resort were carefully preserved in One and Only Palmilla, which opened in February 2004 following a $90 million refurbishment.

Local Area

One and Only Palmilla is located at the southernmost point of Baja California along the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez within the Los Cabos Corridor, a 21-mile stretch between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

Direct flights from U.S. gateway cities to San Jose Del Cabo International Airport, and the resort is a 20-minute drive along the No.1 Highway.

San Jose del Cabo, located 10 minutes by car from One and Only Palmilla. Mexico is one of the world's top fishing destinations. Many fishing enthusiasts consider Cabo San Lucas in Los Cabos to have the best year round availability with more than 800 species of fish inhabiting the warm waters from tuna to sailfish, and a variety of black, blue and striped marlin.

Mexico fishing records are constantly being broken here. Hosts of swordfish also make the shores of Cabo their home and are available between January and June.

One and Only Palmilla features two hard courts, lit for night play. The tennis facility is located adjacent to the championship golf course, with breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. Racquets and balls are provided and court use is complimentary.

To complement the facility, resident Peter Burwash, International Tennis Academy professional, is available for lessons and hitting sessions, with such available programs as: Private and Group Instruction & Play the Pro, Turbo Tennis Workout, Kids Only Tennis.

One and Only Spa at Palmilla

The One and Only Palmilla, previous winner of the Condé Nast “Best Resort in Mexico” Award, is the essence of luxury at Los Cabos, Mexico.

The 22,000sq ft Mandara Spa is the centrepiece of the One and Only Resort and, situated among the rich gardens and tropical vegetation, is the ultimate sanctuary.

The spa comprises six buildings surrounded by lush landscaping. It features 13 spa villas, including six double villas, for a private and intimate guest experience.

Scuba Diving

Deep Sea Diving / Snorkelling

Dive off the natural reef of Los Cabos and you may well encounter manta rays, hammerheads, sea turtles and sea lions. A rich variety of marine flora and fauna thrives at the tip of the Baja Peninsula and underwater visibility is up to 120 feet, making it ideal for exploring.

The One and Only Palmilla is happy to arrange dives for guests and a 5-day PADI-certification course is available for beginners. There is also a complete line of equipment including tanks, VCD, weights, wet suits, masks, fins, booties and vests.

Dives include:

• North Wall: A great dive for beginners, this dive starts at approximately 10 feet. Follow the wall and see beautiful rock formations filled with puffer fish, angelfish and more. Depth: 10-60 feet.
• Pelican Rock: The most popular local dive site. Swim with schools of goatfish, grouper, snappers and jacks. Follows the sandy ledge to the wall that drops down to over 1,000 feet into the submarine canyon. Beautiful sea fans, angelfish, Moorish idols and an occasional sea turtle or manta ray can be seen here. A great experience for beginners and experts alike. Depth: 20-130 feet.
• Sandfalls: Jacques Cousteau discovered this world-famous dive site. Large amounts of sand build up at shallow depths and spill down the valley toward the sand falls. At 90 feet, the sand meets the wall and drops straight down for hundreds of feet resembling a waterfall. Because of the depth, this dive is not recommended for beginners.

Palmilla Golf

Palmilla Golf features 27 holes of gentle slopes, wide fairways, and large but challenging greens in a truly picturesque destination. The three loops of nine are the Arroyo, the Mountain, and the new Ocean. Signature hole is No.5 on Arroyo, with a force-carry from a mountain tee box to a well-manicured island fairway and a green that is laid on the natural slope of an arroyo (gulley). To ensure a comfortable round of golf, all carts are equipped with Coolwell G2 personal cooling units.

Cabo Real

Par: 72 Length: 7037 yards Course designer: Robert Trent Jones Jnr Venue: 1996 & 1999 PGA Senior Slams

The course at Cabo Real is set in the ultra-exclusive, ocean-front Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort. Rolling fairways move along the mountainside then drop back down toward the beach. The first nine features elevation changes, hills and valleys, with No.6 460 ft above sea level offering inspiring views. The par-4 14th sweeps down to the ocean on a palm tree-lined fairway, followed by an elevated green right next to the rolling surf. There are superb ocean views from every hole and whales can sometimes be seen off the coast.

Cabo del Sol - Ocean Course

Par: 71 Length: 7103 yards Course designer: Jack Nicklaus

“The best piece of golf property in the world.” – Jack Nicklaus The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol is situated along 1.5 miles of oceanfront at the Sea of Cortez. Considered by some to be the most challenging in Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos, Golf Magazine named Cabo del Sol on its list of the “Top 100 Courses In The World. the course is also known as the “Mexican Pebble Beach.” Plenty of gullies, sand traps and other obstacles make play very interesting. Signature holes include the par-three No.17 - a 178-yard shot over a sandy beach and rock outcroppings to a small green framed by bunkers on one side and a drop to the ocean on the other. No.18 is modelled after the 18th at Pebble Beach.
