Golf in Ireland

Ireland offers some of the finest golf courses in Europe, from traditional links at Portmarnock, European Club and Rosses Point, to the modern championship designs at Mount Juliet, Druids Glen and Ryder Cup Venue the K Club.

Tiger Woods plays regularly at Adare Manor, which is generally considered the best golf course in the country, whereas the Old Head Links at Kinsale is among the most spectacular in world golf with its cliff-top location.

With the locals legendary “craic”, few places offer a warmer welcome or more fun atmosphere than Ireland and the country’s resorts set high standards in hospitality with fine dining at the likes of La Cascade in Sheen Falls, Byerley Turk Restaurant at the K Club, Lady Helen Dining Room at Mount Juliet and the Oakroom at Adare Manor.

Horse racing is also a great passion for the Irish and visitors can take in the races for themselves at the K Club or try their own hand on a mount at Sheen Falls, Adare Manor or Mount Juliet’s Conrad Equestrian Centre.

For whisky connoisseurs, there’s the world’s oldest distillery at Bushmills on the north coast of the country too - so don’t forget to drop in for a tipple!

Weather: Play is available through 12 months for links golf courses, and on inland courses from March to October. The weather is generally mild, with the east coast usually receiving the warmer weather. Temperatures from May-September are typically 16 to 22°C (65 to 75°F).
