The Banyan Golf Club is the newest addition to golf in Hua Hin, with the potential to be recognised as one of the finest courses in Thailand.
Although modern in design, with a high quality finish to fairways and greens, Banyan Golf Club retains a very natural feel – located around the natural lie trees, hills and rock formations. Pineapple trees flank fairways.
The 15th tee offers a wonderful and impressive vista of the ocean and surrounding mountain ranges, set in the backdrop of the peace and tranquility of Banyan Golf Club.
Black Mountain is a recent addition to golf in Hua Hin and was created from lush jungle and pineapple plantations. The course is set in a valley, just next to the Black Mountains, providing a nice backdrop to many of the holes.
The golf course has retained many natural features - including the creeks that run throughout the course, the original trees that frame holes, and large rocks that have been used as design features on many of the holes.
Black Mountain is a true test for the top golfers, but is also very playable for the average golfer with different tee-settings. All the holes provide the golfer with a safe route but for the more adventurous player there is a higher risk option with a potential greater reward. The par 5, 6th peninsula green can be reached in 2 shots by aggressive long hitters, while casual golfers have a regulation path to the green with 3 shots.
Black Mountain offers generous fairways for the shorter hitters that become narrower for the longer tee shots. The greens are large with many pin positions, with different degrees of difficulty, and the course is well protected by many white sand sculptured bunkers.
The golf course at Majestic Creek is a traditional and typical golf club course in design, featuring rolling hilly terrain with challenging greens. Tee-shots are also challenging, with carries over lakes and a maze of streams. One of the holes is over 700 yards long from the back tees, the longest par 5 in Thailand!
Set in the mountains just west of Hua Hin, Majestic Creek also enjoys pleasant surrounding scenery and a pleasing setting with fairways lined by palm trees.
The Palm Hills golf course is laid out on a long strip of undulating terrain, with palm tree-lined fairways.
Thousands of brightly-coloured bougainvillea plants add to the natural beauty, and the back nine playing from the higher hills provides stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin.
The fairways are generous and wide, and the terrain relatively flat. Enjoyable resort course, not far from the main resorts at Hua Hin.
Sea Pine Golf Course (also known as the Army Golf Club II) is set along the Gulf of Thailand 20 minutes south from Hua Hin.
The majority of the Sea Pine area is comprised of bracken pine trees and is enriched by the beauty of oceans and mountains. The army originally developed the site as a form of retreat for serving soldiers and veterans and their families.
The Sea Pine course design and layout have been developed to provide golfers with a wide variety of challenge. The course is designed with six holes lying on the beachside, with the remaining holes towards the mountains divided by the railroad.
Down the stretch at Sea Pine the sea breeze comes in play and the three final holes are among the best in Hua Hin golf. The 16th is a dogleg par-5 that requires a drive to a narrow fairway down the hill to avoid water hazards on both sides. Golfers look down at the hole for their second shot with a panoramic view of the ocean and the mountains with risk and reward decisions for the second shot.
The signature 17th is a par-3 which encompasses a spectacular ocean view background. The tee shot is all carry over water and is comprised of a wide undulating green that is well protected by beach bunker in both front and back.
The par-4 finishing hole is among the most difficult on the course. A canal creates a major hazard that requires golfers to hit their drive over 220 yards in order to reach the fairway. A safe lay-up approach with a fairway wood is also an option for a solid par.
A modern clubhouse overlooking the Gulf of Thailand serves up some great Thai food. The municipal golf course is a good value. However, Hua Hin golf visitors must take note that Army officers and their guests have priority and others should be prepared to yield should their tee times overlap with Army golfers.
A masterpiece of Jack Nicklaus, this championship course is one of the best-maintained courses and was ranked top 10 best golf course in Thailand by Golf Digest.
Located within a short drive of Hua Hin, find yourself in blissful harmony, surrounded by majestic mountains, towering evergreen trees and sparkling lakes.
Beautifully maintained, the Springfield Royal Country Club presents the golfer with a wonderful, 27 beautifully designed, landscaped holes - each challenges your senses of aesthetics as well as your golfing skills.
The original 18 holes features the full Nicklaus theme - long par 4`s, big bunkers, plenty of water, most of the trouble to the golfer`s right and an island green!
The `C` course, while still maturing, is also a testing and more modern but open layout.
