Local Area

Fota Island, Cork is home to Ireland's only wildlife park, as well as the historic Fota House and gardens. Nearby is the celebrated Midleton Jameson Irish Whiskey Distillery.

Fota Island is also just 9 km from the city of Cork – home to many galleries, museums, theatres, and artist workshops. The Cork calendar is filled with festivals, from jazz and sailing to film and choral.

Blarney Castle is just a short drive away (25km), as are a number of blue flag beaches and culinary towns of Kinsale and Clonakilty.

Fota Island - Deer Park

In 1993, a new course was developed at Fota Island. It was designed by Irish Ryder Cup star, Christy O'Connor, Jr. and twice-English Amateur Champion, Peter McEvoy. While essentially a resort course, it has hosted a number of tournaments, including the Irish Club Professional Championship, the Irish PGA Championship and 3 Irish Amateur Opens. The professionals loved it, and we’re sure you will too!

Fota Island - Belvelly

Par: 72 Length: 7121 yards Course designer: Jeff Howes

The Belvelly is designed to challenge even the most competitive golfer while remaining loyal to the traditional style, values and playability that characterise Fota Island Golf. The 16th is a signature hole, a 435-yard Par-4 that requires an accurately placed tee shot to allow the challenge of the approach over an old quarry to a small target!

Cork GC

Par: 72 Length: 6119m Course designer: Dr Alister MacKenzie Venue: Irish Open

Cork was founded in 1888 and redesigned in 1927 by Augusta National designer Alistair MacKenzie. This championship parkland is as graceful and mature as its age suggests. Scenically situated in Cork harbour, the club has hosted many events such as The Carroll’s Irish Open, and the Irish Professionals championship. Quality guaranteed!

Old Head of Kinsale

Par: 72 Length: 7220 yards Course designer: Carr, Kirby, Hackett, Merrigan

The Old Head of Kinsale is a remarkably dramatic piece of Ireland, protruding over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. Nine holes play along the cliff tops, and all eighteen holes provide stunning ocean views. The 360-degree vistas will distract you, but do not relax too much as the ever-changing sea breezes will challenge you at every turn of this incredible par-72 layout.
