Local Area

The setting of Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora is home to some of the most beautiful natural sights in the Canary Islands.

The resort is five minutes from Los Gigantes cliffs, directly in front of the ocean, and only 35 minutes away from the airport Reina Sofía de South Tenerife.

The capital of the island, Santa Cruz, is 90 minutes away and the Las Cañadas del Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the highest peak in Spain (3718m), is just 40 minutes by car.

A highlight is the mild weather in the area, with an average temperature of 21 degrees centigrade and 335 sunshine days all year around.

Abama Golf Course

Par: 72 Length: 6857 yards Course designer: Dave Thomas Venue: Canaries Open 2006

The Abama Championship Golf Course rises and dips between 22 lakes and more than 25,000 trees. Along the way are waterfalls, palms and bunkers of marble sand, while the Atlantic Ocean offers a beautiful backdrop. The lowest point of the course is 78 metres above sea-level and its highest, 315 metres. Facilities include practice ground and green, putting greens, clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant and bar and buggies with GPS. There is a golf academy where guests can receive private lessons.

Las Americas

Par: 72 Length: 6039m Venue: Spanish Ladies Open

Golf Las Americas is defined by wide and flat lush fairways, with water hazards on 10 holes, and palm trees, flowers and shrubs lining the fairways. Visually this is a very pleasant golf course with streams flowing into waterfalls across its gently sloping terrain. The surrounding mountains protect from the wind and sun is guaranteed all year round!

Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje hosted the European Tours Tenerife Open in 2003. The course has typical local features of black volcanic sand and is noted for the excellent condition of its fairways and greens. Wonderfully located, overlooking the south coast, and Mount Teide to the north.

Buenavista Golf

Buenavista Golf located in north west Tenerife is wonderfully set on cliff tops overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The course rewards consistent golf with wide fairways and light rough, punishing stray shots with thick vegetation and rocks in the wasteland. Coastline holes feature tee shots with the illusion of hitting into the ocean. No.9 and No.18 feature 2 lakes connected by a waterfall. The greens are guarded by shallow bunkers, allowing for ‘sand saves’! Buenavista is unashamedly holiday golf at its very best and should be on every golfer’s itinerary when visiting in Tenerife.
