Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland is home to some of the finest golf courses in Scotland and views to die for over Ailsa Craig and the Irish Sea beyond.
Open venues Turnberry and Royal Troon are the most celebrated layouts – Turnberry hosts the Open in 2009, with the Turnberry Hotel unveiling a full and exciting renovation following its acquisition in 2008 by the Dubai based Leisurecorp.
Royal Troon is situated within a golfing haven of championship courses including Kilmarnock Barassie and Open qualifiers Irvine Bogside, Gailes Links and Loch Lomond’s links, Dundonald.
Prestwick Golf Club is also a landmark course to play – designed by Old Tom Morris, and host of the very first Open in 1860.
