There are a total of 23 rooms including cottage rooms located within a couple of minutes of the main building. Greywalls also offers Self Catering at the Colonel’s House.

Most rooms enjoy uninterrupted views either over Muirfield and the Firth of Forth, or over the gardens and the gentle rolling farmland to the Lammermuir Hills.

Self Catering at Greywalls

Located 200 yards from Greywalls the Colonel’s House provides self contained accommodation for up to ten people. Ideal for golfing groups or a family party, it comprises two ensuite guest bedrooms, two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and small study.

There is also a small, cosy study where the housekeeper can set out a drinks tray. The four good-sized bedrooms are comfortably furnished and each has its own bathroom.

The house is light and spacious and is furnished to the same high standard as the hotel. It has a charming drawing room with French windows opening on to a private garden and terrace. The delightful walled gardens are attributed to Gertrude Jekyll and contain a hard court and grass tennis court, croquet lawn and putting green as well as borders filled with herbaceous plants.

Golf Courses: East Lothian has often been called a golfer’s paradise. The region’s microclimate ensures more playable days than elsewhere in Scotland. Most of East Lothian’s golf courses are traditional Scottish links style with undulating fairways, hidden bunkers, gorse and heather lining the fairways.

With ten golf courses, including four championship courses, within 5 miles of Greywalls this has to be the perfect venue for anyone wishing to sample the full spectrum of Scottish Golf at its best. Today Greywalls sits proudly alongside the clubhouse of the world renowned Muirfield and the Kingdom of Fife.

Muirfield Golf

Muirfield is a renowned host to major championships - eleven Amateur Championships have been played over the course and 15 Open Championships.

With the exception of the Championship tees, the course has changed little since 1936. In 2008 however, in conjunction with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, golf architect Martin Hawtree was commissioned to advise the Club on how best to ensure Muirfield remains a challenge to the world’s great golfers. As a result, some amendments are being made before the next Open Championship scheduled to be played in 2013.

The ethos of golf for the Club (The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers) is two-ball match play on Muirfield, either singles or foursomes, other forms being discouraged but permitted on occasion.

Among the most memorable rounds at Muirfield was Nick Faldo’s march of 18 straight pars to defeat Paul Azinger to the his first Open in 1988. More recently, Ernie Els captured his only Open Championship at Muirfield in 2002. For many golfers worldwide, Muirfield offers the ultimate golfing experience.

North Berwick

The North Berwick Golf Club is the thirteenth oldest in the world, founded in 1832 by a group of local landowners and gentlemen, among them a soldier who fought in Napoleon's final defeat at Waterloo.

A list of past captains on the wall in the clubhouse proudly displays a distinguished past - Knights, Earls, Lords, Marquis and a former British Prime Minister, A.J.Balfour!

Used as an Open Championship qualifying course when the Open is at Muirfield, North Berwick has the reputation as being a real shot maker's course. Not the longest of layouts but testing all the same. Excellent view from the links right over to Fife on a clear day.

Venue: British Open Qualifying

Gullane I

Gullane I is a great test of links golf with smooth, fast greens, pot bunkers and an almost ever present sea breeze. There are glorious views out over the Firth of Forth as the beautifully maintained, rolling fairways wind their way out along the coast. The wind makes shot selection challenging and rewards the creative golfer.

The course was established in 1884 and has played host to Open Championship Final Qualifying.

Above you, the whispering pines. Ahead, the sweeping fairways.

Out here, it feels as if it's just you and the course. Golf has never been more inviting than this: the 18 hole Fidra Links, a unique mixture of pine forest and fast-running links.

Archerfield is not just about playing golf it's about an attitude of mind. We think it's our privilege that you have chosen us, not the other way round. Archerfield welcomes you to feel at home, bring guests, and of course, play as much golf as you like.

On coastal land that has hosted golf for over 100 years, DJ Russell has created the 18 holes of the Dirleton Links.

It's a challenging expression of a traditional Scottish links course with its sweeping fairways, deep, menacing bunkers and undulating dunes bordering the fairways. Already enjoyed by a quartet of Masters Champions, from Gary Player to Ian Woosnam.
