Whiskey
Edradour Distillery
Edradour is the smallest distillery in Scotland and also the last original 'farm' distillery in Perthshire. Edradour is located in a pocket glen in the hills above Pitlochry in the Southern Highlands, 60 miles from St Andrews and a fascinating place to visit.
Tours at Edradour are well organised around what looks more like a small farm than a distillery. Edradour produces just twelve casks of whiskey a week during production times. This is then laid down to mature for at least 10 years until the whiskey reaches peak quality!
Highland malts enjoy a unique depth of flavour and quality that's the result of a fine blend of altitude and mountain water. For many connoisseurs Edradour, with its exquisitely smooth and creamy texture, and just a hint of smokiness, is the jewel in the Highland crown.
The whiskey is distributed only through specialist outlets, so this is a great opportunity to try some!
Please ask your Ascot Golf Sales Representative to arrange for a visit to the Edradour distillery with your Golf Holiday to the Fairmont, St Andrews, Scotland.
Fairmont Kittocks
Par: 73
Length: 7049 yards
Course designer: Bruce Devlin
|
Bruce Devlin's experience and expertise have provided Kittocks with its innovative and exciting character. It is a truly magnificent 72 par, 7,049 yard championship course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape. This as yet undiscovered gem begins by innocently easing the golfer into a false sense of security, offering wide, well manicured fairways that wind around man-made water features and risky bunkers, teasing the golfer with a mix of par fours and fives.
The excitement continues to mount as the homeward stretch lies ahead, all the while heading to the par 4, signature 17th. After a solid drive this 'dog leg' leaves a precarious second shot towards the cliff edge green which is heavily guarded by slopes and strategically placed bunkers. A final surprise awaits with a par 3 18th, where the golfer must complete the round with a skilful shot to secure par.

Fairmont Torrance
Par: 72
Length: 6435m
Course designer: Gene Sarazen
|
The Fairmont Torrance Course is a dramatic creation from the late Gene Sarazen and named after Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance. The gorse-lined fairways roll with the natural contours of the land along its striking clifftop setting with glorious views of St Andrews and beyond to the Grampian Mountains.
Features of the course are typically Scottish, with stone walls, deep bunkers and streams dotted about around the 18 holes. The exposed setting calls for some skilful shotmaking in the wind and bump and runs to the large, true greens are often the order of the day.
The signature hole is the 17th where the cliffs drop off dramatically all the way down the right of its 444 yards.
|
Kingsbarns
Par: 72
Length: 6652 yards
Course designer: Kyle Phillips
Venue: PGA European Tour - Dunhill Links Championship
|
“Six miles south of Scotland’s Old Course at St Andrews is the new Kingsbarns Golf Links, so splendiferous in its concept and execution that we felt compelled to declare it our first ever Best New International Course” – Golf Digest, 2001.
Kingsbarns is a relatively new but classic links set against the rugged coastline of the North Sea in the most famous stretch of golfing terrain in the world. The land in East Fife is perfect for golf and Kingsbarns makes great use of the sandy soils, ridges and hollows. Glorious sea views, deep, revetted bunkers, smooth, undulating greens and the picturesque Cambo burn make for an attractive but stern test of golf which requires excellent shotmaking.
The course is now included within the end of PGA European Tour season Dunhill Links Championship!

Dumbarnie Links
Par: 72
Length: 7620 yards
Course designer: Clive Clark
|
Other than Pebble Beach, there are few world-class courses able to offer such an expanse of beach and water frontage that Dumbarnie Links has been blessed with.
Dumbarnie offers a world-class, prestigious links golf course just minutes away from St Andrews, the “Home of Golf.” This rare piece of land has a mile and a half of sea frontage with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth.
At first glance Dumbarnie Links may have the appearance of the style of the classic links courses. However, the extensive 345-acre site at Dumbarnie is particularly special. Its dual elevations, which are connected by a flowing escarpment, have provided the opportunity to create a number of elevated tees where holes play directly towards panoramic views of the expansive Firth of Forth. A further outstanding feature is that a number of tees and greens are in close proximity to the water. In fact, fourteen of the holes have views of the Bay and the Firth of Forth.
The design incorporates three potentially driveable Par-4s and features several holes that engender ‘risk and reward’. This course is designed to inspire rather than intimidate golfers. Total yardage for the golf course varies from 5,300 to 6,900 yards. However, there is a special set of professional tees positioned such that should an event be held at Dumbarnie sometime in the future, there are 12 extra tees whereby the course can measure up to 7,600 yards.
Dumbarnie has very generous fairways, large undulating greens and boasts stunning views of the Forth Estuary, East Lothian and the East Neuk of Fife.
“I have no doubt that Dumbarnie will soon come to stand along with Kingsbarns as the two courses (after the Old) that every serious St. Andrews pilgrim will want to play” - George Peper, Links Magazine
