Kiawah Island - Cougar Point
Par: 72
Length: 6875 yards
Course designer: Gary Player
Cougar Point features spectacular golf alongside broad expanses of marshland, offering views of the Kiawah River and acres of needlerush and spartina grass.
Originally named Marsh Point, Cougar Point was redesigned by Gary Player in 1996. It features a great blend of short and long par-4s, great risk/reward par-5s and extremely scenic and challenging par-3s. It has become a great strategic layout where players need to think their way around the course. No. 6 has a spectacular view, and No. 17 is considered by many to be one of the prettiest and most challenging golf holes on the island.
Cougar Point was recently awarded a near-perfect 4½ stars in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” reader’s poll.

The Ocean Course was the venue for the 1991 “War on the Shore” Ryder Cup, where Bernhard Langer missed a 10-foot putt on the last hole to tie the overall match. The 17th hole is a standout with a 200-yard carry to the semi-island green.
The course is a modern links layout with deep bunkers, waste areas, undulating fairways and dramatic views out over the ocean. It is one of legendary designer Pete Dye’s most famous and intimidating creations.

Osprey Point is a favourite of resort guests on Kiawah Island. Renowned course architect Tom Fazio used the natural canvas to create an eminently playable and varied layout. The setting for the course features four large, natural lakes, fingers of saltwater marsh, and dense maritime forests of live oaks, pines, palmettos and magnolias.
The course is very playable for the average golfer. It features generous landing areas and few forced carries. From the proper tees, the course poses appropriate challenges to the better golfers and fairness to the high-handicapper, senior golfers and junior golfers.

This Jack Nicklaus design has hosted several top amateur events and in 1990 hosted the PGA Cup matches, the club professionals' Ryder Cup.
Turtle Point calls for great accuracy and intelligent strategies, with narrow fairway corridors, small greens, strategically placed water hazards and plenty of out-of-bounds.
Players not driving the ball well will struggle for par. Since it is one of the longest courses on the island, proficiency with fairway woods and long irons is a must. So is the ability to scramble and to shape your shots.

Located just off Kiawah Island on the neighbouring Seabrook Island, Crooked Oaks, winds through marsh, maritime forests and moss-hung, century old oaks.
Crooked Oaks Golf Course is the only course in the area of Charleston with bentgrass greens. The grass makes the greens faster, adding another challenge to an already difficult Jones' run, which he has called one of his best.
