The cuisine at Carosello is as fresh and exciting as the décor, a whirl of Italian flavours made from the freshest of ingredients. The buffet selection of antipasti, cheeses and cold cuts changes daily, as well as with the seasons, while the a la carte mains are sumptuous.

ROASTIC Our rustic steakhouse beckons with the tempting flavours and aromas of the grill. RESTINGA PRAIA AT ALVOR BEACH

With a magnificent view over the beach of Alvor, the Ria and the bay of Lagos, Restinga serves as a restaurant and bar. It was completely built in wood and glass, obeying the new environmental rules and creating two areas. The terrace invites you to relaxing afternoons or to enjoy a delightful refreshment seasoned by the sea, while in the interior, wood and a simple decoration prevail, allowing the landscape to enter. From the kitchen stand out the seafood dishes and grilled fish or meat.

ÀBABUJA AT RIBEIRA DE ALVOR

It was in the early 1990s that Manuela Soares spotted an old fishermen’s house and decided, in addition to recovering the space, to transform it into a restaurant. Now it’s a place for fish, seafood and much more. The decoration maintains several antique elements, creating a relaxing atmosphere. When you arrive, start your meal with the traditional fried shrimp with orange or the fried cuttlefish with clams, then move on to spaghetti with shrimp and clams or savour a beautifully grilled fish. If you prefer meat, try the Àbabuja steak or the meat cataplana. Finish with the chocolate delight.

T-BONE STEAKHOUSE AT NH MARINA PORTIMÃO

At T-Bone you will find great food, an amazing view, and a friendly atmosphere. Overlooking Rio Arade and Marina de Portimão, you will enjoy the best meat (and much more) cooked in the best way by our chef. To be honest, the menu will make you droll. Want to try it? Morgado

Par: 73 Length: 6339m Course designer: European Golf Design Venue: Euro Pro Tour

Located within 5km of Penina, Morgado is a quality new course on the Algrave and has recently hosted the 2006 Oceanico International Open on the EuroPro Tour. The course has a links-like style, with open firm fairways, contoured greens and some deep bunkers. The par-3s and par-5s are perhaps the more difficult in terms of length; the par-4s are reachable with 2 reasonable shots, but are also enjoyable and challenging.

Alamos

Par: 71 Length: 5641m Course designer: European Golf Design

Alamos Golf introduces the player to the delights of the Algarve countryside - a peaceful and rural setting uninterrupted by roads or buildings. Set alongside Morgado course, Alamos is shorter than its neighbour but still challenging and very endearing. Players used to playing off forward tees might opt for the back tees on this course.The greens are small and sloping, as are some of the fairways. Trees guard some of the greens and come into play on approach shots. Wildlife and fauna surround.

Palmares

Par: 71 Length: 5961m Course designer: Robert Trent Jones Jr.

The redesigned Palmares (completed in 2010) golf course features 27 holes of parkland and traditional links. “Palmares Golf Course is special on so many levels. The expansive ocean vistas, dramatic elevation changes, intimate valleys, and expansive dunes gave us an environment from which we could craft a golf course with enormous depth of character and challenge”. Robert Trent Jones Jr Each nine-hole course has its own character: Lagos Course – features the only two lakes of the layout at the short par 3 third and long par 4 sixth. The final holes are played into the expansive dunes on the southwest portion of the layout. Praia Course – set alongside the seaside dunes with full exposure to all of the elements! The four seaside holes are bracketed by the beach and railway line, with the closing hole rising out of the dunes onto an amphitheatre green below the clubhouse. Alvor Course – a parkland layout played through narrow fairways lined with mature pine trees. The majority of the holes feature dramatic elevation changes either ascending hillside or descending through valleys. Palmares has hosted a variety of amateur and professional events including the Europro Tour circuit.

Penina Championship

Par: 73 Length: 6273m Course designer: Henry Cotton Venue: Portuguese Open

The 18-hole Penina Championship Course features holes which are crossed and flanked by a series of streams, ditches and water hazards, demanding precisely executed shots. The course is beautifully maintained, winding past tall stands of eucalyptus and clumps of palms to mainly elevated greens which have subtle slopes and sometimes treacherous speeds. The memorable par-three 13th has been voted one of the best 500 holes in the world and requires a long carry over water to a green guarded by sand. The course is characterised by an unusual grouping of the par-5's, with four of the five arranged together in pairs at the beginning and end of the back nine producing a par of 38 as opposed to 35 for the front nine. Penina also offers a 1,850m nine-hole par-30 Academy Course for players to sharpen their skills on before or after their rounds on the Resort and Championship courses!
