Puerto Banús Beach Located in the most exclusive enclave along the Costa del Sol, is the most glamorous beach you can find in all of Marbella. It’s located between the Puerto Banús Marina and the mouth of the Río Verde, making it also called Río Verde Beach. This semi-urban beach with golden sand of 1,500 metres in length and an average width of 40 metres has an extensive beachfront promenade. Puerto Banús Beach has all classes of amenities, along with a never-ending list of restaurants that are among the best in Marbella. Furthermore, this beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, a distinction awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education.

Nueva Andalucía - The Duke Beach “El Duque” is found in the western part of Marbella, more specifically in the centre of the town for which it is named: Nueva Andalucía. This beach is adjacent to Puerto Banús, the Costa del Sol’s most luxurious resort, a marina where visitors can see spectacular yachts, sports cars, exclusive boutiques etc.

The location of Playa de Nueva Andalucía - El Duque makes it one of the beaches of most interest to visitors and one of the most famous in the whole of Marbella. With its golden sands and rich vegetation with an abundance of palm trees, this beach conveys a certain tropical feel. It also has a fantastic bathing area thanks to the jetties that have been built, favouring the deposit of sand. The beach is 1,050 metres long and 30 metres wide.

Surrounded by many sophisticated shops and tourist residences, the luxurious Marina of Puerto Banús has become one of the most exclusive and glamorous enclave in the world, usually frequented by celebrities who have fallen in love with its luxury-village style and enjoy the harbour where the largest yachts are moored. Designer boutiques, sport cars’ parades, exclusive nightspots and restaurants are just the beginning of what you'll experience in Puerto Banús.

Named Casco Antiguo de Marbella (Ancient District of Marbella) in Spanish, Marbella Old Town dates back to the 15th century, right after the Christian Reconquista. Featuring winding streets, typical Andalusian houses with balconies decorated with fresh flowers, historic buildings and a great choice of cool restaurants and small boutiques, the Old Town offers something to see and enjoy at every corner. Colourful and tidy, Marbella Old Town has a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Travel/Weather

On leaving Malaga airport, follow the signs Algeciras/Cadz and onto the A7 toll road heading west. About 4km west of Marbella take the second exit for Puerto Bans/San Pedro. The Andalucia Plaza Hotel is located in the west side of the town - follow all signs for "Casino".

Los Naranjos

Los Naranjos is one of the premier golf courses on Spain’s Costa del Sol located within 5 km of Puerto Banus and Marbella. The course features wide fairways, doglegs, strategically placed hazards and large undulating greens, making it testing but suitable for players of all levels. It starts with a short par-four then winds through orange groves, eucalyptus and palm trees before reaching the spectacular 18th where water is a constant threat. The par threes – 4, 8, 12 and 17 – are a particular delight at Los Naranjos. With water and bunkers and trees coming into play, par is a good score on all of four holes. Facilities include driving range, three putting greens, practice bunker, short game areas, and massage and fitness services.

Marbella Golf and Country Club

Marbella Golf and Country Club is located 10km east of the town of Marbella between Rio Real and Santa Maria. The course is testing but enjoyable for golfers of different abilities with elevation changes, large greens, lots of bunkers, water hazards and thick rough. The opening holes are crossed by ravines and gulleys that demand accurate tee-shots. In addition to a championship golf course, Marbella Golf offers first class club facilities including an impressive restaurant with terrace dining overlooking the finishing holes and the sea beyond.

Valle Romano Golf

Par: 71 Length: 6231m Course designer: Seve Ballesteros

Valle Romano Golf, in Estepona, is an outstanding 18-hole course, fitted out to play host to the most demanding and prestigious tournaments. In Valle Romano we look after each detail and pamper the golfer at most. The player is warmly welcomed when arriving. When he finishes the marshall team offer to clean his clubs and shoes as a house courtesy. With an average 5 tees per hole and spacious greens with many flag positions, as well as overlooking the sea, Valle Romano is a course to enjoy in all senses of the word. A wooden booth with an interphone has been fitted on the green of the 8th hole for such purpose with a direct line to the restaurant. There is a menu in this booth that contains sandwiches, various sweet and savoury appetizers, soft drinks and energy drinks that players can order as they pass through this part of the course and get at hole 9. Since Valle Romano was no more than a plan, Seve had given it his backing and did so right up to the end. On our visits to Pedreña, as he battled against his illness, he always wanted to know, "How´s the course going? How are the houses?" Eager for any news, however insignificant it may have been. He would listen to us with endless attention and give his opinion, which was always welcome. Every player who passes through Valle Romano will take away a special memory of Seve. Hole 9, the most distinctive one on the course, bears his name.

Rio Real Golf

Par: 72 Length: 6087m Course designer: Javier Arana

Located in the most prestigious area of Marbella, just 5 minutes from the city centre, Rio Real runs alongside Rio Real River until it reaches the Mediterranean Sea. The course has a wide variety of different species of trees: Pine, Palm, Casuarinas, Olive, Cypress, etc. which make it the ideal place to play golf, both on foot and in golf carts. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, one can play all year around, with seafront holes and spectacular views. The course is suitable for every player, thanks to its more elevated holes, which make them even more appealing and memorable. In general the greens are quite flat, well maintained and protected by the surrounding bunkers. The 10th, a dogleg to the right, leads onto the spectacular 11th tee, where you have a great view down onto the green situated on the other side of the river!

Flamingos Golf

Par: 71 Length: 5883m Course designer: Antonio Garrido Venue: European Seniors Matchplay Championship

Los Flamingos Golf Club is situated in one of the most beautiful settings around Marbella and generally considered one of the best courses to play. Players can enjoy the magnificent views of the Mediterranean, of Africa and of Gibraltar from every one of its 18 holes. Each of the holes on the course is defined by its own trees. The most demanding golfer will find himself among cypress, orange, olive, pine, carob, chestnut and pomegranate trees.

Finca Cortesín Golf Course

Par: 72 Length: 6800m Course designer: Cabell B. Robinson Venue: Volvo World Matchplay

Finca Cortesín was created as the new home for the European Tour’s Volvo Wold Matchplay Championship (previously held annually at Wentworth) from 2009. Its 70 rolling acres were expressly designed and landscaped so that residential areas remain virtually hidden to players leaving you to view the beauty of the course. Undulating fairways, spectacular water hazards and elevated tees combine to the make this a dramatic but fair test of golf.
