Santo da Serra Golf Course has hosted the European Tour’s Madeira Islands Open on many occasions, while the Cabell Robinson-designed Palheiro Golf Course winds through one of the most beautiful and exclusive estates on the island.

Dom Pedro Baia Club offers 218 rooms, including club rooms and suites, with views across the bay and the surrounding grounds.

Baía de Zarco restaurant also overlooks the bay, whilst the Piano Bar, with its live entertainment, offers the perfect place for a relaxing nightcap. Ascot Golf packages include All-Inclusive board as standard.

Leisure facilities at the Dom Pedro Baia Club include an outdoor heated saltwater pool, massage area, tennis court, games room and sports court, whilst there is also a well-equipped diving centre on site to allow you to explore the diverse marine life and shipwrecks off the coast.

Guest Rooms

The Dom Pedro Baía Club Hotel has a total of 218 rooms of which there are: 6 Junior Suites, 50 Club Rooms (two bedded), 10 Club Rooms (three bedded), 116 Twin Classic Rooms with sea view, 15 Classic Rooms (three bedded) with sea view, 7 Single Classic Rooms with sea view and 14 Twin Classic Rooms with garden view.

Classic Room: These rooms are located on the higher floors of the hotel, between the 4th and 10th, and enjoy stunning views of Machico Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Club Room: This exclusive accommodation, configured as twin and three-bedded rooms affords guests special amenities and personal service. Located on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, decorated and furnished to a consistently high standard.

Each room has its own private balcony with sea views, and are provided with a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, in-room internet access and bathrobes. Guests enjoy VIP treatment on arrival, and the privilege of reserving tables in the dining room and sun loungers by the pool.

Suites: The Suites are located between floors 4-10 offering panoramic windows. Guests have beautiful views of Machico bay and the Atlantic Ocean. All suites have separate living area with television.

Bar/Dining

Baía de Zarco Restaurant: Overlooks the beautiful bay of Machico. The restaurant is decorated in soft peach tones which creates a restful atmosphere for diners.

Piano Bar: This friendly bar, on the third floor of the hotel, is open for afternoon tea, while there is live entertainment each night.

Pool Bar: Located next to the outdoor swimming pool.

Leisure Facilities

Swimming Pools: Outdoor heated pool surrounded by greenery and exotic trees. From the sun-loungers around the pool, guests can enjoy views towards the mountainous peninsula of São Lourenço. There is a separate pool for children, showers and a towel service for guests.

Massage: Massage is available from a qualified holistic therapist.

Games Room: Card and board games are available.

Tennis Court: Guests are invited to use the hotel's tennis court located within a few yards of the hotel. Racquets and balls are available at Reception.

Sports Court: Volleyball, badminton, bowls and archery may be played next to the tennis court. All equipment is available from Reception.

Diving Centre: The in-house diving centre, Madeira Oceanos, has a professional team who can assist with subaqueous photography, night dives and shipwrecks and is affiliated to several international diving organizations such as PADI, SSI, TDI.

Local Area

São Roque Chapel, located close to the hotel, was built at the end of the 15th century to honour a vow made by the second Governor of Machico to the saint for his miracle of ending the plague!

For fine panoramas of Madeira's east coast - Porto Santo Island and the desert islands, there are two excellent viewpoints above Machico.

Severiano Ballesteros (2001) The Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra (27 holes) is ranked in the top 100 courses in Europe and has hosted Madeira’s most prestigious tournaments, including the Madeira Island Open, which has been part of the European Tour for the past 16 years, since 1993. The course was built in 1937. Robert Trent Jones Sr. redesigned the course in 1991, creating a true masterpiece on a par with his other fabulous creations, which include Valderrama and Spyglass Hill of Pebble Beach. Santo da Serra Golf course has been described by golf journalists as one of the most scenic on the European Tour. Santo de Serra winds through a botanical garden and up the slopes of the mountains to 1,000ft above sea level, so it’s best enjoyed on a clear day when the views across Machico Bay are simply breathtaking. Facilities at Santo da Serra include a golf academy, driving range and chipping and putting green.

Palheiro Golf Course

Palheiro Golf is a beautiful layout with breathtaking views, fast undulating greens, well-placed bunkers and tight fairways that reward accurate play. The course winds around the Palheiro Estate which is famous for its pine forests, centennial trees, flowering shrubs and lush vegetation. Standout holes include the attractive 9th with its exotic trees and the spectacular par-five 18th where your elevated position in the fairway affords you views out to the Atlantic Ocean and tempts you to go for the heavily tree-lined green in two. Facilities include a six-hole academy course, chipping green with bunker, putting green and driving range.
