The Sheen Falls Estate is home to 15 miles of private river bank where the Sheen River rises in the Caha Mountains and flows deep through the valley before it spills into Kenmare Bay. River Fishing is available on a wonderful one-mile stretch of the River Liffey at the K Club Hotel. The Liffey has a natural stock of salmon and wild Brown Trout up to 7lb. The river also boasts of great hatches of fly throughout the season resulting in very large bags of fish especially during the mayfly time of May through to July and afterwards on sedges. Coarse Fishing also available with a choice of five stocked lakes - brown trout, rainbow trout, carp, bream, trench, rudd. All equipment provided: rods, clothing, bait and flies. The River Maigue at Adare Manor is noted for a good stock of Wild Brown Trout with an average weight of 1lb, and some up to 2-3lbs. Over the past few years the Maigue has seen a good run of Spring Salmon - fish up to 20 lbs have been caught when the conditions are right. In addition to the River Maigue there are two private Brown Trout lakes on the property. Fish weighing up to 5 lbs have been caught on both of these lakes. Whether you are a beginner or an improver, resident angling professional Jim Robinson will provide angling lessons either privately or in a group. Ghillies can accommodate up to three fishermen in one boat and are available for half or full day's charter. The shores of the Cong River provide River fishing, again renowned for its salmon. Ashford Castle now runs fly fishing schools in partnership with Orvis Fly Fishing Company, which has an international renowned reputation as both a fly fishing equipment manufacturer and for running fly fishing schools.
