Costa del Sol Golf Courses - Kempinski Hotel Bahia Estepona
Alferini
Alferini
Par: 73
Length: 6641m
Course designer: Antonio García Garrido
Opened in 2007 Alferini is the flagship course at Flamingos Golf - and along with the original course makes the resort one of the best golfing resorts on the Costa del Sol coast. Set in the Benahavis Hills the course offers great mountain views.
The course itself has elevation changes with club selection a challenge. The fairways are reasonably tight but playable with large greens. The 5 different teeing options available make the course enjoyable for all levels of player.
Finca Cortesín was created as the new home for the European Tour’s Volvo Wold Matchplay Championship (previously held annually at Wentworth) from 2009.
Its 70 rolling acres were expressly designed and landscaped so that residential areas remain virtually hidden to players leaving you to view the beauty of the course.
Undulating fairways, spectacular water hazards and elevated tees combine to the make this a dramatic but fair test of golf.
Los Flamingos Golf Club is situated in one of the most beautiful settings around Marbella and generally considered one of the best courses to play. Players can enjoy the magnificent views of the Mediterranean, of Africa and of Gibraltar from every one of its 18 holes.
Each of the holes on the course is defined by its own trees. The most demanding golfer will find himself among cypress, orange, olive, pine, carob, chestnut and pomegranate trees.
La Reserva Club de Golf is a recent addition for golfers in this exclusive area of Costa del Sol, just a short drive from Almenara Resort, Sotogrande and Valderrama.
La Reserva is located within two adjacent valleys. The Course is long but the fairways are wide so you can afford to open your shoulders with generous fairways. The greens are on the large size but it is one thing to be on the putting surface in regulation and another to avoid three putting when a long way from the pin position! Water features at half a dozen holes, but apart from one hole, it does not present itself as a frontal hazard.
Both the inward and outward 9’s have par threes separated by long par fives. Notable holes on the front side include the 244-yard 6th with water pressurising the tee shot to the left of the green and the 205-yard 8th which is played downhill to a putting surface which also has water to the left and bunkers front right. On the back nine, the 180-yard 14th has only one bunker to the right of the green and the 159-yard 16th is played from an elevated tee to a tricky, shallow putting surface.
La Reserva Golf Club is a very picturesque course which presents a challenge to all golfers, the perfect addition to your golf holiday.
Sotogrande was founded in 1964 and is located on prime golfing land close to the beachfront between the river Guadiaro and Sotogrande marina. It is regularly voted in the top 10 courses in Europe.
This testing layout from legendary designer Robert Trent Jones features lakes, fast greens, white crushed marble bunkers and a frequently testing wind. There are Bermuda grass fairways while the greens feature typical Trent Jones contours.
Mature vegetation with pine, cork oaks, eucalyptus and giant palm trees add to the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Many top events have been played at Sotogrande with the great Seve Ballesteros clinching the Spanish PGA here in 1987.
Home to the 1997 Ryder Cup and host in November '99 to the World Golf Championships, Valderrama is rated as Europe's No 1 course, and is one of its toughest challenges. Immaculate fairways, notoriously difficult par 5s, super fast greens, everything about this course is stunning. Only a lucky few manage to feel its lush fairways underfoot, as access is very restricted and exclusive.
